Greetings Advance Peace Partners,

I hope that this finds you and your family well.

I wanted to share a few things about how street outreach work designed for and directed at violence prevention and intervention within our most impacted communities is filling the COVID-19 response gap in under resourced neighborhoods. Trained, developed and appropriately resourced, Street Outreach Teams can be an essential community asset in reaching people that other public safety and health professionals cannot. While practicing proper social distancing protocols, Advance Peace teams continue to play an essential role in facilitating street outreach, life coaching, and life skills training to those most impacted by cyclical and retaliatory gun violence. More about that hereMore about that here.

Advance Peace teams are also playing a role as frontline COVID-19 responders within the neighborhoods they serve. For example, our teams are leveraging their status within these communities as trusted messengers and getting appropriate health information to those who have been misinformed about coronavirus and its impact on Black, Brown and Young People. More about that here.

Since March 23, 2020 we have delivered 6,000 boxes of food, masks, hand sanitizer and other supplies to families in need. We have also ensured that our Fellows have the appropriate technology (cell phones and chrome books) to stay connected to school, their life coaches and remain involved with our life skills platforms.More about that here.

Advance Peace recently partnered with “Masks For The People” a humanitarian effort to get PPE supplies to our most vulnerable communities. Our teams have been well taken care of and have the PPE they need to do their jobs. We are now working to get these resources to a broader group of our community family.

We are doing our part to #TakeCareOfEachOther. I look forward to sharing more with you in the coming weeks about our progress during this period.

Again, Stay Well!
